An alternative to a high school diploma is the universally recognized credential, the General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Lane Community College (LCC) offers preparatory classes to pursue the GED, and you can contact LCC at 541-463-5214, abse@lanecc.edu, or at the GED office in Eugene at 101 W. 10th Ave., Eugene, OR 97401.
Information to know about the GED and student ages:
• If your student is 18 or older, they do not need to be enrolled in homeschool and can go directly to LCC.
• If your student is 16 or 17 years old and not already enrolled in a GED program, the first step is to enroll your student in homeschool through the online portal. Next, print the GED letter (formerly called the Parent Assurance Form) from the online portal and take it to LCC.
• If your student is 15 or younger and wants to pursue the GED, contact Annie Marges, ODE Alternative Education Options Specialist, at annie.marges@ode.oregon.gov or 971-208-0104.
What is on the GED test?
The GED covers language arts, social studies, math, and science. LCC provides initial testing to identify the student’s strengths and areas for growth, as well as GED preparation classes; click here or contact LCC directly for more information.
Does LCC have a Spanish GED option, Spanish translator, or ESL support?
