Dr. Tenneal Wetherell
Superintendent

Dr. Tenneal Wetherell serves as Superintendent of Lane Education Service District, bringing more than 25 years of experience in Oregon’s K–12 education system. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to supporting students, educators, and school communities through collaborative leadership, strong partnerships, and a focus on improving outcomes for all learners.

Prior to joining Lane ESD, Dr. Wetherell served as Deputy Director of Operations at the Oregon Department of Education, where she also held the roles of Chief of Staff and Assistant Superintendent for the Office of Enhancing Student Opportunities. Dr. Wetherell helped lead statewide initiatives, including Oregon’s special education system, and worked alongside educators and partners across the state.

Before serving at the state level, Dr. Wetherell dedicated  more than a decade at South Coast Education Service District, serving as Superintendent and in several leadership roles. She began her career as a special education teacher and has also served as an autism specialist, special education administrator, and K-12 district leader.

Dr. Wetherell believes the best outcomes are achieved through strong relationships and meaningful collaboration. She is committed to partnering with school districts, educators, families, community organizations, and state leaders to ensure every student has access to the opportunities and support they need to succeed.
