Commitment

Lane ESD is committed to providing equity training for all staff to create an inclusive,  collaborative, and innovative educational environment that fosters lifelong learning, equity, and well-being for all members of our community. Most staff will participate in the Engaging Equity modules which is a collaboration between WestEd  and the Oregon Department of Education.   This professional learning series comprises 18 modules that together will provide staff with a comprehensive set of learning experiences that build their critical equity skills and competencies for supporting culturally responsive and sustaining education in a purposefully sequenced way across four clusters. The four clusters are organized as follows:

  1. Racial Equity Foundations (Personal Mindsets)
  2. Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Practice (Social–Emotional and Instructional Strategies)
  3. Applying an Equity Mindset to Learner Variability (Community Skills)
  4. Building Equitable Educational Systems (Systemic Competencies) Though some of the activities are oriented toward teachers, the course content and reflection opportunities overall have also been created to serve the needs of school administrators, instructional leaders, student support staff, as well as systems-level leaders.

Lane ESD offers culturally specific curriculum to Lane County educators that reflects the identities of our students within our region in areas such as Tribal  History/Shared History,  Black History   365, Ethnic Studies, and Early Literacy.

English Language Development (ELD) services include technical assistance relating to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and educational learning platforms. Train general education teachers to learn how to integrate the English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards into their regular curriculum.
