Fees: Free for Lane County high school science teachers, $150/day for teachers outside of Lane County
Goals:
  • Experience and learn about open-source biology science curriculum
  • Engage in an experience that will allow you to make instructional shifts to better serve our students.
  • Participate in an ongoing professional learning community (PLC) of regional biology teachers making the curricular and instructional shifts called for in the NGSS
Description: In this one-day workshop, teachers will be introduced to the curriculum and approach to teaching Patterns Biology NGSS CurriculumOpens a new window/tab, which is a (free) open-source curriculum developed by science teachers and curriculum specialists at Beaverton School District. This curriculum is currently taught in over 21 school districts in Oregon, and approximately 30% of students in Oregon are currently taking one science course in the Patterns curriculum series. Lunch: No lunch will be provided.
Prerequisites: None required. Attending Workshops 1-5 will provide important background for this workshop, but it is not required.
Notes: All participants will be provided a certificate for PDUs based on the training hours.
