Audience: ELD teachers, SPED teachers, K-12 classroom teachers, TOSAs, building leaders
Capacity: 50 participants
Fees: $50.00 for individuals outside of the Lane ESD Title III consortium. Free to those inside the consortium.
Goals:
  • Participants will understand and be able to implement an asset-based approach to working with emergent bilinguals.
  • Participants will improve their skills for discerning "learning difference" from "learning disorder" for emergent bilinguals.
Description: This professional development series will help teams, across all grade levels, learn how to leverage the collective knowledge of your team to improve student outcomes.

Your team will come away with an understanding of the considerations for special education that would distinguish between the supports needed for language acquisitions and how they differ from a learning disability through an asset-based model.

Your team will have an opportunity to apply newly learned skills and strategies based on the needs of their individual school or district.

As an added bonus, this will help your district implement their improvement plans related to the Student Success Act.
Lunch: Lunch will be provided.
Prerequisites: None
Notes: Please note that even though you attended one of the other trainings, you still must register for this workshop.

All participants will be provided a certificate for PDUs based on the training hours.
