Audience: High school physical science and physics science teachers; science/math/STEM teachers
Capacity: 30 participants
Fees: Free for Lane County high school science teachers, $150/day for teachers outside of Lane County
Goals:
  • Live the experience of Unit 4: Engineer a Shoe (Force, Impulse, Momentum).
  • Engage in an experience that will allow you to make instructional shifts to better serve our students.
Description: This workshop aims to engage participants in a project around the engineering and design of a shoe. In the workshop, participants will live the experience that a student would, and will take and analyze data in order to make data-informed decisions about a shoe design. Participants will learn about a learning progression that targets NGSS performance expectations about force, impulse, and momentum.

Lunch: No lunch will be provided.
Prerequisites: None required. Attending Workshops 1-5 will provide important background for this workshop, but it is not required.
Notes: All participants will be provided a certificate for PDUs based on the training hours.
